The Broadbent Lounge
Tucked within the tranquil setting of River Retreat Kananaskis, The Broadbent Lounge is where understated luxury meets mountain charm. Designed for connection, relaxation, and elevated experiences, it’s a place where time slows and each detail encourages you to linger a little longer.
At the heart of the lounge is a striking bar, built from the reclaimed wood of a renowned Dutton-area watering hole — a cherished local landmark steeped in history and character. Paired with hand-crafted copper counters that glow with a living patina, the space exudes warmth and timeless appeal.
Begin your day with a fresh-brewed coffee as the morning light dances across the copper. In the evening, return for libations and hors d’oeuvres, surrounded by the soothing ambiance of mountain serenity.
And for a truly memorable moment, let Todd prepare his signature Old Fashioned — a classic cocktail crafted with precision, heart, and a touch of mountain soul. It’s the kind of drink that warms you up as it cools you down — the perfect companion for riverside reflections.
Whether you’re celebrating or simply soaking in the views, The Broadbent Lounge offers more than refreshment — it offers a moment to savour.
The Conservatory Dining Experience
Where Nature Meets Refined Comfort
Step into the Conservatory — a glass-encased sanctuary where the warmth of a crackling wood- burning stove pairs with panoramic views of the Highwood River and the majestic Canadian Rockies.
From the moment you enter, you’re enveloped in a sense of tranquility. Natural light spills through the windows by day, while in the evening, soft candlelight and ambient glow from the fireplace create a cozy, intimate atmosphere. The space is elegantly furnished with rustic-luxe touches — soft textures, curated art pieces, and the subtle aroma of cedar and fresh herbs drifting from the kitchen.
Each meal served here is more than food — it’s a celebration of the land. Menus feature locally sourced ingredients, seasonal flavours, and thoughtful pairings, served with grace and care. Whether it’s a nourishing brunch, a private dinner, or a multi-course culinary event, guests are treated to exceptional hospitality in a setting designed to soothe the soul.
Highlights:
- Intimate indoor dining with river and mountain views
- Wood-burning fireplace for a warm, alpine ambiance

Our Guests

Debra
My husband and I just returned to North Carolina from a vacation in beautiful Alberta. We spent a week with Todd and Jaxy, and by the time we left they felt like family. Their location is breathtaking and they spared no expense to make sure we felt at home and comfortable. One of our favourite vacations!

“We were one of the first to enjoy this amazing retreat in Kananaskis – 5 course meal and mountain-view room right by the river, and an amazing breakfast for Valentine’s weekend. We had the best time. Thank-you Todd and Jaxy for being the best hosts. We highly recommend anyone going who wants to enjoy a peaceful getaway in the mountains! We have been all around the world and have eaten at a lot of different restaurants, and this is one of our favourite spots. We will be back!”
